Finish your antibiotic course, dose by dose

Antibiotics are often taken two or three times a day for a set number of days, which makes doses easy to miss. In DoseMed, add the antibiotic with each dose time and an end date, then log every dose from the reminder. The schedule stops on its own when the course ends.

How to set it up

  1. 1Add the antibiotic by name, for example amoxicillin.
  2. 2Choose how many times a day and set each time as prescribed.
  3. 3Set the end date of the course, so reminders stop when it's finished.
  4. 4Enter the number of pills or capsules you were given to see how many are left.
  5. 5Tap Taken on each reminder. The schedule shows any dose you missed.

Features that help

Why finishing the course matters

Your prescriber chose the length of the course. Stopping early because you feel better, or missing doses along the way, can mean the infection isn't fully treated. A reminder for each dose and a visible log make it easier to follow the plan.

Read the label

Search the antibiotic in DoseMed to read its FDA label from DailyMed: how to take it, warnings, side effects and interactions. If something is unclear, ask your pharmacist.

What DoseMed does not do

  • DoseMed does not tell you what to do about a missed dose. Ask your pharmacist or prescriber.
  • Times are set by you; DoseMed has no automatic every-X-hours schedule.

Frequently asked questions

How do I remember to take antibiotics three times a day?

Set three reminder times that fit your day and the instructions on the label, then log each dose from the notification. DoseMed shows which doses are done and which are still due.

Can a reminder stop automatically when my antibiotic course ends?

Yes. Set an end date when you add the medication in DoseMed, and reminders stop after the last day.
