Your medication list is nobody else’s business

DoseMed has no accounts and no server copy of your health data. Your medication list, schedule and dose history are stored on your iPhone, the app works offline, and you can lock it with Face ID. The only time medication names leave your phone is when you choose to ask the AI assistant a question.

Last updated:

A medication list says more than it seems. Antiretrovirals, antipsychotics, fertility treatment or chemotherapy can reveal a diagnosis you have not shared with your employer, your insurer or your family.

Most reminder apps start with a sign-up form and keep your list on their servers. That makes your list something that can be breached, sold, or handed over. DoseMed was built so there is no such copy to begin with.

Where your data goes

Everything DoseMed handles, and where it ends up.

Medication list, schedule and dose history
On your iPhone

Stored in the app’s on-device database. Deleting the app deletes them.

iCloud sync (optional, off by default)
Your own iCloud account

When you turn it on, your data syncs through your private iCloud database. DoseMed cannot read it and has no server in the middle.

AI assistant questions
Sent to answer, then discarded

When you ask a question, the message and the names on your list are sent through our server to an AI provider (OpenAI) to generate the answer. We do not store conversations in a database, and the chat is discarded in the app when you close it.

Drug information
Bundled with the app

The catalog ships with the app. Detailed label sections are downloaded when you open a medicine; the request contains the product ID, not who you are.

App analytics
Amplitude, without your health data

Anonymous usage events (for example which screens are opened) help us improve the app. They are not linked to a name, email or phone number.

Purchases
Apple and RevenueCat

Subscriptions are handled by Apple. RevenueCat confirms your Premium status using an anonymous ID.

Privacy questions

Do I need to create an account?

No. There is no sign-up, email address or phone number. Open the app and add your first reminder.

Where is my medication data stored?

On your iPhone. Your medication list, schedule and dose history are stored in the app’s on-device database, not on a DoseMed server.

Does DoseMed work offline?

Yes. Reminders, dose logging, refill tracking and the drug catalog work without a connection. The AI assistant and detailed label sections need the internet.

How do I move my data to a new iPhone?

Turn on iCloud sync in DoseMed’s settings. Your data then syncs through your own iCloud account to any iPhone signed in to the same Apple account. DoseMed cannot read it.

Is DoseMed HIPAA compliant?

HIPAA applies to healthcare providers, insurers and their business associates, not to a personal app you use on your own. DoseMed avoids the question by design: it does not collect or store your health information on its servers.
